MCJA prides itself on its comprehensive training process. Interested applicants should request an application from the co-training coordinator listed below. All applications must be postmarked no later than June 30th of the current year. All applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Must have at least 3 years of high-level coaching experience

  • Must not be a member of any other judging association. National association judging is acceptable.

  • Must have a working knowledge of dance and gymnastics

  • Must be highly motivated and eager to learn

  • Must have knowledge of all rules and levels of cheerleading.

If you would like to train with MCJA, please fill out the following form and return it along with your cheerleading resume and letter of reference.

What to expect:

All of our judges will have extensive training in all areas of cheer and dance.  If you are offered a training spot, you will be asked to take a written test before and after training.  You should expect to critique and score live cheerleading competitions (where your scores will not count and are for training purposes only), as well as other various methods to train.  You should expect to train for a minimum of one year before being accepted as a member of our organization.  You will be an expert in the following areas:

  • Motion & Jump Technique

  • Dance (Pom, Jazz, Hip Hop)

  • Stunting

  • Pyramids

  • Tumbling

  • Safety (Pop Warner/YCADA, AYC, USASF, AACCA, NFHS)
